Geek in a Dress

September 7, 2009 · 2 Comments

I knew I shouldn’t have agreed to meet up with the guys at Trinoma. I splurged (again!) Oh man. I really should control this. In any case, here’s the latest addition in my small wardrobe:

When I saw this yellow dress, I just couldn’t put it down. The yellow was so yummy and the material was something that I would always go for. It wasn’t flimsy or clingy. I was sure that it wouldn’t go around showing all the fat in my belly. I looked at the price, okay, less than a thousand bucks. Still within my budget. Then I tried it on.

Usually I would be disappointed with tube dresses like this because the garters hang onto my boobs in such an unflattering way. This one didn’t. Well, at least not as much. And I really like the ribbons and the fabric underneath. I feel young and optimistic in this. So there, I bought it.

Then the geek glasses. I’ve been searching for spare frames because I feel that my current ones will die on me soon. (not yet not yet please!!) I saw these at PrP and as such with frames found outside optical shops, this one’s practically dirt cheap. I loved how it fit snugly onto my face so now I’m hunting for an optical shop that can change the lenses for me. Heh. Recommendations anyone?

Dress is from Bayo by the way and it’s the only one left of its kind. Don’t you just love it when that happens?

Late bloomer. O_O

September 6, 2009 · 5 Comments

I don’t know what came over me. I think it started with the haircut and then the make-up and then the geeky glasses and then the clothes. I suddenly want to reinvent myself. Hm. Okay, maybe not exactly reinvent but I suddenly got this urge to experiment with how I look and the clothes I wear. Late, yes. I should have done this while I was still in college. Grr. Oh well at least I’m trying harder now and because I am surrounded by a nice, solid support system (*hugs all 3 readers of this blog*) my self-esteem issues are slowly dissipating.

Now all I have to do is lose 20lbs!

Anyway, I tried experimenting with stuff and this is the first outfit I came up with using my resources.

Glasses: 120php (online store)
Oversized shirt: 150php (divisoria/ukay I’m not sure, my grandma gave this to me)
Tights: grandma hand-me-down. SRSLY.
Shoes: 1.8kphp (primadonna)

If it weren’t for the shoes, this whole look would have been roughly 270php. O_O wow. If only I was skinny, I would have bought a lot of clothes from divi or ukay. They usually have small sizes so I never really considered it a regular option. -sigh-

Dresses and Boots – I’m a happy fattie!

September 4, 2009 · 7 Comments

I don’t know if I have mentioned it before but I’ve always dreamed of wearing mid-calf boots. I’ve always always always wanted to wear it. When I was in high school, the idea of wearing boots in the Philippines appalled me but as I grew older, I found myself wanting ever so badly to wear boots with a mini skirt or a dress. Let me get one thing straight though, when I say ‘boots that I like to wear’ I mean soft, slouchy, flat boots. Not leather, stiletto-heeled ones. I can tolerate pain almost anywhere but my feet.

Anyway, I never got to wear mid-calf boots because my legs are too fat. I’m fat generally but my legs are especially HUGE. I tried fitting boots before but.. I can never pull them all the way up. :( So I gave up on that dream in the same way I gave up on sporting a pixie haircut, we all know how that ended up. So understand please, that when I saw mid-calf boots, priced at 1.8k (!!!) and with an opening so wide I can just– yes, FIT MY LEG RIGHT IN, I just had to buy it!

Excuse the fattie please. In any case, even though I’m fat, I found a pair that fit me! Me and my humongous legs! YAY!!!! And the most important thing is that it’s only 1.8k!! wooot~!

In other news, I bought this dress at PrP. It looks nice, I think, but it wasn’t really my first choice. They ran out of stock of the dress that I liked. Oh well. Next time next time. :)

As always, excuse the fattie. :) I’m a happy fattie!
