Mike Villar Gets My Dirty Ice Cream Vote!

Aside from the fact that his name scares me, (it reminds me of a politician and politicians remind me of death) I think Mike “fucking” Villar SHOULD win in the Philippine Blog Awards. When I dig through someone’s archives, then it means the blogger has grabbed my multi-tasking head and actually made me focus on one single thing for more than an hour. That is a pretty big feat since I easily get distracted. First time I got to read Mike Villar, it wasn’t through his famous Atrocities of Friendster post/series. It was actually through his: Birth Control, Condom Dry Run post. Why I happened to stumble on that post, I still have no idea. I don’t know the guy, he doesn’t know me but I actually know something as… uhmm… as personal as him masturbating through his dad’s socks.

And I think that’s how blogging should be. No, I’m not saying that everyone should go around sticking his pututoy where his feet should be… but if that floats your boat why not right? Anyway, I think Mike Villar stands for how blogging started and how we should not forget it. We all started to blog thinking that the internet is our public diary. But how many of us was able to be as honest as Mike Villar? Seriously. I’m hiding behind an alias just like everyone else; people will get to know sorbetera first before they associate it with the my real name but Mike Villar lets everything hang out. He lets you in on everything, doesn’t that make you feel special? We all started as bloggers who shared our lives on the internet in the hopes that people will actually give a damn and read it. But we hid the bad stuff from the public eye. We didn’t want to share stories of us with our faces in mud. Mike Villar lets you see his story and see everything.

The simplicity of blogging faded as it evolved into something more complex. People talking about their expertise, their perfect lives, their travels… no one talks about the first time they wore a condom anymore.

Mike Villar takes us back to the basics. (and makes us laugh while he does it)
