I can’t remember the last time I listened to the radio two days in a row. Since the dawn of MP3s, radio stations slowly made it out of my list so I don’t really know what’s going on in the different stations nowadays. Sure the radio is turned on whenever we commute but I always have my own choice of mp3s plugged in my ears and I’m not that familiar with the radio stations anymore. However, since I started working and my phone started to fail (then got replaced with a new phone) I tuned in to the radio through my ericsson phone. I still don’t have extra cash to buy a memory card you know so I figured the radio would do for the meantime. At first I was unsure of where to go and who to listen to. Then suddenly, when the dial reached Magic 89.9, it stopped there and never moved ever since.

Now, I listen to the radio everyday on my way to work and on my way back home from work. And the usual people I get to listen to would be: Josh on Daybreak (3am-6am) and Joey and Andi on Top 5 @ 5 / CD Review (3pm-6pm)

Yes… I get to listen to them now every single day. To tell you guys the truth, these people are really starting to rub off on me. I haven’t listened to the radio in a while but it’s still nice to find out that some things never change. The occasional callers are still there going “Helloww, can I greyt?” and “Hellow, kenay boat?” The same feeling of awkwardness goes through me whenever I hear callers struggle to speak in English on-air.

There is something dangerous though about listening to Magic 89.9 while on a jeep.

One time on my way back home, Joey was on. The whole voting thing went like this:

Caller: I’m going to vote for David Cook, Time of my Life…..

Joey: … and? You have to vote for at least one more song.

Caller: …

Joey: Hello?

Caller: I’m going to vote for Kim Chiu

Joey: WHAT?! We don’t play Kim Chiu. Like, never. We never played Kim Chiu. EVER.

Caller: *surprised* Huh… why not?

Joey: Why SHOULD we play Kim Chiu?

Caller: why not?

Joey: *in a slightly lower voice*Clearly you don’t listen to Magic 89.9

— silence —

Joey: Okay then thanks for voting!

I would’ve laughed so hard but I just ended up smiling like an idiot trying to contain my laughter. People were already starting to give me weird looks because I was shaking in my seat. That did it for me. I knew that I’d be listening to Magic 89.9 at least for as long as I haven’t bought a memory card yet. If things like that happen everyday on Magic, then I think they found a loyal listener in me.

wow that caller sure is some fool. Who would expect that Magic would play a shitty song by Kim Chiu? Tablado siya sa sinabi ni Joey. *laughs* I think that caller mistaken Magic from WRR… xD That big idiot… Doesn’t know how to differentiate a cool music station from a “baduy” one. Natawa ako dun sa post mo! =D

yeah I’m deathly curious about boy’s night out too. the boy barkada loves it too. XD

    @fred
hahaha! I don’t really think she knew what station she was calling. Most people just want to hear their voices on-air. I liked Magic because they don’t kiss ass. They tell it like it is. ^___^

  7. Kim Chiu….LOL XD You have GOT to be kidding me. Shows how much the damn caller knows about music.

Boys Night Out, I’ve never caught the show, but they hosted our grad ball, and if their performance at the ball’s any indication of what their show is like, you should try tuning in to them sometime.:)
