Ice Cream of Doom

Bend and Break

July 15, 2007 · 3 Comments

” I’m gonna make you bend and break
(It sends you to me without wait)
Say a prayer but let the good times roll
In case God doesn’t show
(Let the good times roll, let the good times roll)
And I want these words to make things right
But it’s the wrongs that make the words come to life
“Who does he think he is?”
If that’s the worst you got
Better put your fingers back to the keys”

Image Hosting by Picoodle.comI was never a big fan of Fall Out Boy. Or emo music either. (Gah.. these days the line between emo and punk is but a single, hanging thread) But as some people had Mariah Carey or Christina Aguilera supporting their break-up, I had Fall Out Boy. It’s funny because I never even listened to them. Yes, I’m serious. NEVER. (not even Sugar, We’re Going Down!) I never heard any one of their songs up until two days ago when my brother told me to download Thanks for the Memories. As standard protocol, after I got the mp3, I tested it out to see if the quality is good. When I listened to it, I found out that it wasn’t only the quality that was good, the song was pretty good too.

And while I was in my severe depression mode, the song (as cliche as this may sound) practically set everything free. Whenever I hear it, I end up singing… no, yelling it out and then surprisingly, I’ll feel good about myself afterwards. It’s like a drug though, the effects aren’t permanent. So I also take it like a drug. Whenever I go out of the house, it’s imperative that I have my phone with me so I can play mp3s and keep my mind from wandering off. When my mind strays towards an unpleasant thought (like that woman) I pop Thanks for the Memories like a pill and suddenly, the pain doesn’t seem to be as bad anymore. Actually, if only I can sing out loud while walking I will, because honestly, it really feels good.

Corny? I won’t blame you if you think that way. As I said, I never even listened to anything emo. I’m sure you’ll agree with me that I don’t strike the type to listen to it. I’m not saying that right now I’m already a fan but I’m thankful I came across it. The lyrics doesn’t even apply specifically to my predicament but somehow whenever I sing it out, I feel better. There are those kinds of songs right? Even though it has nothing to do with you, there is some sort of attachment to you and that song.

But someday, I want to be able to say the lines “He tastes like you, only sweeter”

…and really mean it.

EDIT: Happy post coming up next! This would be my last post of bitterness. Sorry for this.

Your friends wish you nothing but the best in your times of need. Don’t worry about posting bitterness. It all adds to the flavor of your ice cream, Sorbetera. Cold and sometimes bitter, but ice cream will definitely have that sweetness that keeps people coming back. So, I look forward to my next scoop of ice cream from you. Make mine a double scoop!

Cool. ^^ Music does make wonders. It’s good to know that somehow you’ve found a way to relieve yourself from the emotions you’re having right now. ^__^

You’re getting over a breakup. It’s only natural that you listen to [sigh] emo rock and get all bitter. But yes, Fallout Boy isn’t horrible. I have one of their songs – yung “This Ain’t A Scene”.

Anyway, kaya mo yan! Aja aja fighting!
